Crowd's Noise-Making Ability Called Into Question

Published Friday, March 9th, 2012

An enthusiastic man standing on a stage in a sold-out Dunkin’ Donuts Center publicly questioned a crowd’s ability to make some noise on Wednesday.

“How are you all doing tonight?” said the man upon first taking the stage, to applause. The man said, “how are you all doing tonight?”

When the crowd responded with what it believed was a more respectable cheer, the man expressed doubts about whether the crowd had heard him the first time and alleged that a crowd in a different city had made a louder noise for a longer period of time than this crowd.

“I know you all can be louder than that,” he said, though he did not specify on what information this claim was based.

The man then stated that he could not hear the crowd and repeatedly demanded that its members tell him whether they were having a good time. Some speculated that the man might be deaf or delirious, while most remained focused on appeasing him.

“I just want to hear him say that’s what he’s talking about,” said crowd member Evan Spivey, 32. “We’ve got to cheer loud enough that he says that’s what he’s talking about.”

At press time, the crowd was making approximately the same amount of noise as it had before, causing the man to nod his head emphatically and say that that was what he was talking about.
