Wishing for the best as they awaited homeroom assignments for the upcoming semester, everyone at Pawtucket Central Middle School was crossing their fingers that they get Mrs. Rumford, a science teacher who has a lizard. “I better get into Mrs. Rumford’s class,” seventh-grader Billy Turnpike said, fervently hoping that he would luck into the homeroom that contains a large terrarium housing a leopard gecko. “Mr. Matterson doesn’t even have fish or anything, no one wants to be in his class. But Mrs. Rumford has this super cool lizard and you get to hold it if you finish your assignments early. It’s awesome.” At press time, everyone at a nearby elementary school was praying they would get the teacher with a rat.
