Excited Red Sox Players Not Sure How They Want To Spend Rain Delay In Cincinnati

Published Friday, December 4th, 2015

Throwing their mitts up into the air and bolting off in different directions, excited Boston Red Sox players still aren’t sure how they want to spend a 45-minute rain delay in a game against the Cincinnati Reds.

Sources indicate that the Red Sox, coming off a four-game losing streak, had been anxiously checking the weather reports for several days leading up to the game and compiling a list of notable parks, flea markets, and Segway tours around the Cincinnati metropolitan area.

“Let’s go to Smale Riverfront Park!” said Sox infielder Dustin Pedroia, frantically unfolding a Cincinnati visitor’s map in the rain. “No, the Sign Museum! Let’s go to the American Sign Museum!”

“We almost never get to do this!” said relief pitcher Koji Uehara, showing off his new “I love Cincinnati” T-shirt. “Rusney Castillo and I are gonna see who can eat more pulled pork at Eli’s BBQ. Then we’re gonna check out Coney Island—not the one in New York, the one right here in Cincinnati! This is going to be so much fun!”

According to Red Sox Manager John Farrell, who is determined to spend his rain delay on a peaceful walk around Mount Adams, his players have never gotten the chance to explore Cincinnati before and are eager to see if the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden is as amazing as the Kansas City Zoo, which they visited briefly during a rain delay last month.

“This city has so much to offer,” said Sox pitcher Junichi Tazawa, scrolling through a list of upcoming concerts at the Riverbend Music Center. “It might be raining but that won’t stop me from squeezing every last drop out of these 45 minutes. I’m going to try to catch part of the Bengals game!”

“Cin city or bust!” added Tazawa before sprinting away.

Sources confirm that while the Red Sox rushed to visit tourist attractions around Cincinnati, the Reds players went back home to do some chores because they all live nearby.
