Family Glad Dead Child Was Able To Learn Valuable Lesson About Crossing the Street

Published Friday, September 7th, 2012

Following the tragic car accident that claimed the life of Providence nine-year-old Mitchell Brenner, the Brenner family has taken solace only in the fact that the deceased Mitchell will now know to look both ways before crossing the street.

In a recent statement regarding the loss of her son, Debra Brenner remarked, “this is truly a family tragedy.” She added, “but it’s also a great learning opportunity for Mitchy. He’s learned a lesson he’ll never forget, and we’re grateful for that.”

Mitchell was crossing the street last Wednesday, when a car ran a stop sign at fifty miles per hour and collided with him. The car then sped away and has not yet been identified by authorities.

Commenting on the hit-and-run that killed his son, Daniel Brenner remarked, “I hope they find whoever hit my son with their car.” Through tears, he continued, “Just so I could finally say ‘thanks.’ Thanks for taking the time out of your day to teach my son a valuable lesson about road safety.”

Brenner added, “It’s not every day your child’s life is changed by the magic of a great teacher in a fast moving motor vehicle.”
