High School Newspaper Editor Way Too Intense For Paper Called “Wildcat World”

Published Friday, December 8th, 2023

Furiously reading over articles about JV basketball, high school newspaper Editor-in-Chief Theo Harkness is reportedly way too intense for a monthly paper called Wildcat World.

“I mean, he takes it super seriously,” said staff writer Kathy Pine, sitting in front of a poster of the school’s mascot, Willy the Wildcat. “Yesterday he lectured me for an hour about journalistic integrity after editing my article on the animal club’s bake sale. It was kind of ridiculous. I mean, this is Wildcat World, not The New York Times, and we’re all, like, 16, so it’s kind of a lot.”

“He was so melodramatic the other day. He said Wildcat World was the last remaining hope for the future of journalism,” Pine continued, staring out the classroom window at a line of yellow school buses. “He literally said we were the ‘Messiah of student investigative reporting,’ which is crazy because he was talking about an article on replacing a ceiling tile in the cafeteria.”

At press time, high school theater kid Greta Snoll was acting way too emotional for a character named “Townsperson #3.”
