In an attempt to alleviate her homesickness, former Dean of the College Maud Mandel has reportedly been trying to persuade Williams College to buy a giant teddy bear sculpture.
“Yeah I mean I think it might be cool to have some kind of new sculpture on the main green,” Mandel reportedly pitched to the Williams administration. “Something big and——just spitballing here——maybe an animal? A bear or something?”
“Maybe it’d be something kinda zany like a toy next to something serious like a lamp," she continued. “So that the two things are juxtaposed… I think it’d look really nice. But like I haven’t thought about it at all.”
“I was thinking something… blue?" Maud said. "And we could put it right in the middle of campus since it would be such a fun thing to see everyday. But, again, only if you want it. It’s really whatever. I don’t care.”
At press time, Maud threw around the idea of a rock and tree art piece as well.
