I Think That’s Something You’re Gonna Have To Look Inside Yourself And Answer, by Your Advisor

Published Friday, September 27th, 2024

Good morning! I’m really happy you wanted to meet with me. It’s great to see such initiative! And I hope you know I’m here to help with absolutely anything.

So I see you’re wondering if a history course will fulfill your concentration requirement. Great question!

Honestly, I don’t think I can answer that. You might think it would be easy enough to check what Brown allows for your concentration. But really, there’s so many factors that go into it, and the most important one? Is you. Really, being a student at Brown isn’t about checking off requirements or making sure you’re on track for your degree; no, that will all work out so smoothly as long as you make sure you discover your sacred path. So, where do you see yourself in five minutes? Five months? Five years? Think on that. I can’t help you there.

You’re also wondering if all concentrations require just two WRIT classes? That’s a really important question. Unfortunately, I can’t even begin to answer that for you. Because I really want you to focus on yourself and your own personal journey and what you’re hoping to get out of your four short years here at Brown. I’d love to be able to hold your hand through all of these decisions, but that way you’ll never figure out your own path! The real question is, how many WRIT classes do YOU want to take? You’ll have to look inside yourself to figure out how many you need. It totally depends on your personal goals and interests. What will make your soul feel most supported? How does one begin to understand their path before they’ve even set their feet on it? I’d advise meditating on it if you’re still feeling unsure. Try to get in tune with the vibrations of what you want most. I promise, the right path will come to you in the end. Just take a look deep inside yourself!

I hope I answered all your questions. Please remember, I’m always here as a resource for you. Just shoot me an email or stop by my office next time you need help figuring something out! The door’s always open, besides next week because I’m going to New York.
