Nation Watches Nervously As Obama Stands On Swivel Chair To Get Book On Top Shelf

Published Friday, September 5th, 2014

The American people collectively held their breath and looked on nervously as President Barack Obama stood on a swivel desk chair in order to reach the top shelf of his Oval Office book shelf on Monday.

Citizens across party lines admitted that they were very concerned when Obama rolled his desk chair over to the shelf and shakily stepped onto it. “That’s a pretty risky move,” said Minnesota resident Gabe Brocco. “I’ve supported most of the president’s actions, but this really freaks me out. It’s a swivel chair for Christ’s sake."

The American populace simultaneously gasped when the president lost his balance for a moment before steadying himself on a light fixture. Murmurs of “he should find a different chair” and “what’s he trying to reach?” were heard across the nation as Obama slowly straightened up and reached toward the top shelf. The president himself uttered a small “whoops,” which the nation took to mean he was okay.

The president was heard murmuring, “gotta get this book,” as he rolled up his sleeve and steadied himself on the swivel chair. The American populace reassured each other that Obama seemed to be in good spirits despite his precarious situation.

When the president finally gripped the book he wanted and climbed down from his chair, Americans across the country breathed a sigh of relief and went back to watching Malia Obama play Minecraft.
