Movie critics and Meryl Streep fans alike are confident that Streep’s upcoming film ‘Suffragette’ is going to absolutely slay the Bechdel test, a measure of whether a film includes two women talking to each other about something other than a man.
“It’s a Streep showcase, so I’m looking forward to a ton of complex female characters who talk to each other about a whole bunch of topics,” said Streep fan Hannah King, who says she looks forward to films like this. “It’s going to absolutely crush the Bechdel test,” she added.
Critic Dana Stevens agreed. “This film is sure to offer a whole fucking slew of admirable, interesting female characters who are valued for so much more than their looks,” said Stevens. “I’m betting we’ll see a pretty kick-ass mother-daughter relationship, some strong female friendships, and scenes that tackle serious problems like inequality and the way woman feel about their bodies. This thing’s a fucking shoe-in. It’ll pass with flying colors.”
Streep’s reputation for making movies that totally fucking annihilate the Bechdel test is well-founded. She’s known for her roles in ‘Silkwood,’ ‘Julie & Julia,’ and ‘The Devil Wears Prada,’ where she played strong female characters and absolutely demolished the Bechdel test.
Fans are optimistic that, come award season, Streep will get the opportunity to make a charmingly sentimental and funny acceptance speech that will blow everyone else out of the fucking water.
