Juniors Mary Blakely and Lana Kim’s off-campus apartment on John Street reportedly has a coin-op sink.
“We love this place so much,” said Kim, showing off her spacious apartment. “The rent is a bit much, and of course, if you want to wash your hands, clean your dishes, or rinse produce, you do have to pay $1.50, but we get so much natural light.”
“Our bedrooms are huge!” Kim said as she gestured to a bucket where she keeps quarters for the laundry machine and the sink. “Sure, the coin-op sink is annoying at first, but you get used to it after a while. Plus it’s only one extra quarter for hot water so it’s actually a pretty good deal."
“There’s so much storage too and it’s so close to campus,” continued Kim, loading another $1.50 into the sink which just ate her coins without dispensing the water. “The sink thing is annoying, but that’s typical landlords! Ours is actually really nice though. She’s such a sweetie!"
At press time, Blakely and Kim’s landlord has installed a coin-op shower, oven, and window.
