Federal Hill, known as Providence’s “Little Italy,” boasts historic architecture, amazing Italian cuisine, and many great opportunities to view the teeny-tiny Italians. “People always have a great time when they come to Little Italy,” said Providence tourism councilwoman Marsha Pignoli as she presented a photo montage of the miniature Italians serving pizza on a coin. “People come for the pasta, but they stay to catch a glimpse of the little Italians going about their teensy-weensy routines through a magnifying glass. The highlight of any trip to Little Italy has got to be watching the three-inch tall Italians drink red wine out of a thimble.” At press time, representatives from NESCAC said a tour of the “Little Ivies” offers prospective students a chance to see the itty-bitty Amherst students go to the library.
