Rich Friend’s High School Not Called High School

Published Friday, April 9th, 2021

According to rich student Amanda Beckinsale, her high school was not called a high school.

“Oh, me? I went to Choate Rosemary Hall, in Connecticut,” said Beckinsdale, referring to her secondary school without using the phrase “high school” to describe it. “It was really great. We were in the same athletic league as Taft and Trinity-Pawling so I already know a lot of people here.”

“Yeah, I’ve heard of Pat. He went to Deerfield, which was sort of like our big rival,” continued Beckinsdale, totally oblivious to how most Americans attend high schools named after their town. “Although I think his sister went to the Ethical Culture Fieldston School, which is where my parents wanted to send me originally.”

“Oh, her? She only went to Lawrenceville because her parents donated the squash court,” added Beckinsdale, unaware of how abnormal it was to refer to a high school using only one word. “Also, you didn’t hear it from me, but Lawrenceville is full of people who couldn’t get into Harvard-Westlake.”

At press time, Beckinsdale had a strong opinion about every private school in New York.
