Senior Not Looking For Long-Term Commitment, Just Job With Benefits

Published Friday, April 9th, 2021

Venting to friends about her inability to find something stable to count on, graduating senior Shannon Pryor emphasized that she’s not looking for any long-term commitment — just a job with benefits.

“I just think what I want right now is a job with benefits that I don’t have to be too tied down to,” Pryor said, admitting that she might even settle for a handful of part-time gigs here and there in the meantime. “I don’t need a big, official career to last a bunch of years at this point in my life. I’m just trying to find a company that’s down to give me health coverage without putting any kind of serious title on my position. Is that too much to ask?”

Pryor added that she’s been on the lookout for job openings that could be a good match for her, but the hiring scene is really tough these days.

“What I really need is a low-key job that can just tide me over for a while, something that’s reliable but won’t demand a ton of effort,” Pryor continued, asking her friends to tell her if they know of any offices looking to hire someone like her. “It doesn’t need to pay me a lot. I don’t even mind if they employ some other people too. It’s just been too long since I’ve gotten a new job, you know? I just want to get onboarded somewhere so bad.”

At press time, Pryor was recovering from another rejected application.
