Terrifying Multiple Choice Includes “All Of The Above” And “Some Of The Above”

Published Friday, February 4th, 2022

Sources report that a terrifying multiple choice question included both “all of the above” and “some of the above” as possible answers.

“Okay, two of the responses are correct, so there’s going to be an ‘all of the above’ option,” reflected student Cindy Gbeho as she began reading through the gut-wrenching list of possible answers. “Oh no. Oh God no. There’s an answer choice… E?”

“I know cells do A and C, and I’m pretty sure they do B, but do they? They definitely do. No, they don’t," said Ghebo, test paper drenched in sweat. “There was that one lecture where he said they don’t. They don’t, they can’t. But what if that’s what he wants me to think?”

“What kind of mind games is this professor playing?” Gbeho wondered, trying to get into the mind of a professor she had interacted with exactly zero times. “C sort of implies B but doesn’t entail it— in fact, it almost looks like B is just there for fools who think that C entails B when really it’s more of an implication. I’ll go with ‘some of the above’—it’s got to be there for a reason, right?”

At press time, the next question unfortunately began: “Using your answer to the previous question…”
