University officials announced this morning that they will be cancelling the upcoming midyear graduation ceremony, because why not.
“We have had to make a series of difficult cancellations in response to the spread of COVID-19,” said President Christina Paxson, expressing her most heartfelt sympathy for graduating seniors. “We figured we might as well give up the midyear graduation scheduled for December too.”
“There is reason to be hopeful that we will be able to hold our regularly scheduled classes this upcoming fall,” Paxson continued, detailing plans to reopen campus in September. “Still, that is no reason to hold onto the midyear completion ceremony. We are all making sacrifices in this difficult time.”
At press time, University Officials announced plans to permanently cancel classes for midyear graduates, regardless of class year.
