Saying that it really needed this chance to let loose, the University reportedly demolished the historic Gardner House just to blow off some steam. “Ahhh, now that feels a lot better,” the University announced in a press release after tearing down the early-19th century house on the National Register of Historic Places. “Every so often we just have to knock something down to release all the negative energy and stress we build up over time. Renovating and renaming buildings can be pretty refreshing too, but nothing is nearly as cathartic as destroying them altogether. It feels good to finally clear the air of this building that’s stood here since 1806.” As the dust settled in the recently bulldozed lot, the University reportedly considered building a new performance space there just to redirect all this extra energy into something productive.
